This creation came about because of our love of all things robust, smoky, and sweet. It’s dark and mysterious, and is a perfect compliment for beef and wild game. We crafted this blend to highlight the deep flavors of molasses and coffee that compliment one another so well. The Black blend is all-natural, gluten-free, and has no additives just like the rest of our seasonings.

What Does the Black Blend Taste Like?

The spice blend starts with simple ingredients. We use pure cane and brown sugar to get the perfect balance of sweetness and flavor, then add 100% pure coffee. Coffee’s rich flavor is further enhanced by the addition of molasses. A touch of paprika adds smokiness and sharpens the bold sweetness from the sugars and the coffee richness.

On its own, the blend is bright and very obviously sweet. Something magical happens when this spice is used to flavor burgers. Burgers take on a caramel-like flavor with a smoky, sweet flavor. Black & Blue Bison Burgers

This is one of our absolute favorite burgers at home. Mix the Black blend with fresh-ground bison. Mix crumbled blue cheese into the meat, then roll into balls or patties. If you are using a griddle, use a burger press and make smash burgers. The surface of the burger will sear, keeping the cheese from melting out. For extra flavor, add more blue cheese after the last flip.

Barbecue Beef Ribs

Beef ribs benefit from the Black blend in simply magical ways. Beef ribs cook quickly. There just isn’t much meat there. But the Black blend caramelizes beautifully and gives the meat a lip-smacking sweet coating.
