Ready to get Grilling?
Ingredients:
- 8 eggs
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Bearded Butcher Blend Seasoning Chipotle
- 6 strips of bacon
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup diced sweet onion
- 1 cup diced sweet peppers
- 1 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Chopped green onion (optional topping)
Equipment:
- Large skillet
- Grill or oven
- Bowl
- Whisk
- Spatula
- Knife
Directions:
- Prep the Pan: Preheat your grill or oven to 350°F. Place the skillet on the grill or in the oven to preheat as well. This ensures even cooking later.
- Cook the Bacon: Fry the bacon strips in the preheated skillet until crispy. Crumble the cooked bacon and set it aside on a paper towel to drain excess grease.
- Sauté the Veggies: Using the remaining bacon grease in the skillet, saute the diced onion and peppers over medium heat until softened and tender, about 5-7 minutes. Season them with a pinch of salt and pepper while cooking. Remove the cooked vegetables from the pan and set them aside with the bacon.
- Clean Up the Pan: Carefully pour or wipe out most of the excess bacon fat from the skillet. Leaving a small amount for flavor is okay. Return the skillet to the grill or oven.
- Make the Egg Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, melted butter, Bearded Butcher Blend Chipotle seasoning, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Assemble the Frittata: Pour the egg mixture into the preheated skillet. Evenly distribute ¾ of the cooked bacon, cooked vegetables, and shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the egg mixture.
- Bake and Set: Bake the frittata for 30-35 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. You can also check for doneness by gently shaking the pan. The frittata should be slightly jiggly in the center but not liquid.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the frittata from the grill or oven and let it cool slightly for about 5 minutes. Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup cheddar cheese, reserved bacon crumbles, and chopped green onion (if using) over the top. Cut into wedges and serve immediately.
Tips:
- For a richer flavor, use heavy cream instead of milk.
- Add other vegetables to your liking, such as spinach, mushrooms, or chopped sausage.
- Don't overcook the frittata, or it will become dry.
- Add a kick of heat by adding chopped jalapenos and our famous Bearded Butcher Rebel Red Mango Habanero Hot Sauce.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the microwave or oven.
